The debate and controversy about insomnia have shown no signs of letting up. Common sense would tell you though that regardless of the true nature of insomnia, it pays to pay attention to your insomnia symptom.

People who have difficulty falling asleep usually rely on sleeping pills to solve their sleep problems. But all sleeping pills could have serious, harmful side effects. People suffering from insomnia are aware of this but because they are desperate they are prepared to take the risk of endangering their heatlh. There are however, other ways to solve sleep problems, just as effective as sleeping pills, but without any dangers to your health.

Sometimes we are kept awake by pain. Some persons suffer pain that has no remission, except the temporary deadness that comes from nervous exhaustion and sleep. But sometimes the hardest torture is the thought that the pain is unnecessary or useless.

Insomnia is a sleeping disorder characterized by the inability to fall asleep and/or the inability to remain asleep for a reasonable amount of time. Insomniacs have been known to complain about being unable to close their eyes or “rest their mind” for more than a few minutes at a time. Both organic and non-organic insomnia constitute a sleep disorder.
